I’ve been kicking myself since the Tx KBL championship on Houston county for not writing this info down, but I was so immersed in getting ready for day 2 I just brain dumped all the information this guy gave me at the RV park.

Older gentleman, Air Force retiree, was telling me about either corps land one something else around Texas that is available for hunting for retirees and DV guys. It’s managed, stands, planted, feeders, etc and maintained by volunteers. I’d love to know if anyone had any info on what the places were because google turns up nothing on it that I can find. I should have written everything down but it was a 2 day bass tournament and I was 100% in fishing mode at the moment and I just completely forgot it.

Thanks guys.

I believe anyone can hunt Coprs land but you have to either work at a base, be active duty, or retired to hunt ON the bases. I grew up hunting Army Corp of Engineer land, I don’t recall every passing through a security gate or going on a base. This was all around Texarkana. In New Boston at the Red River Army depot 2 years ago, a teenage girl hunting with her dad smoked a big buck.

I think you're mixing up "Corps land" and military installations. Corps land is typically around a Corps of Engineers lake, up to a certain elevation or adjacent to other water-related environmentally-protected areas. You normally have to get a permit from the project office, often through a drawing. Hunting on a military installation also requires a permit. Some may have stands and feeders set up. Military installation land is not managed by the Corps.
