I bought a couple of American hunter rechargeable spring top 6v's . Opened them at the feeders and they were dead . Charged them over night , still nothing . Took them back to the store to trade them in for others , but with little hope as two bad was not a good sign . They gave me two more which I checked with my volt meter at the counter , dead as a doornail . Store manager says great we have a shelf full of bad batteries , and we have sold about 20 .

Some of the spring top batteries need to have the spring compressed to work properly

That sucks. I always charge every battery before it goes in my truck to take to the lease, old or new.

diablodog, would you be interested in a 6V solar charger. Bought it quite some time ago and never used it.

Thanks for the offer but I am running 7 feeders on my place . Also a solar is not going to work on batteries that will not charge . I just need to find some batteries that work . You do not need to compress a spring to test with a volt meter .

I had that problem with the same battery in 12v. I couldn't get a year out of them and they won't take a charge. Throw it away and buy some Power Sonic blue tops. American Hunter and Wildlife Innovations batteries are absolute junk.

Where I am at there is not much of a choice . All of my Wildlife died after a year . This year I was going to try the A hunter instead , but they had no charge as new and would not even charge . I had some old Everyready spring tops that went for 5 years , I can not find them here . I have Walmart , Academy , and a few locals to buy from . There is a Tractor Supply not to far from here , what do they carry ?
