With this warm November thinking might be too warm and ducks may not have come down to the marshes yet. Didnt make it out for opening weekend on the Gulf Coast marshes but am planning to go this one. But Saturday is supposed to be like 80 degrees... figure not many birds with this type of weather? anyone have luck this past weekend?

You can divide migratory birds into 2 groups, first group migrate down based on decreasing daylight called "obligate migrants"; their migration patterns are largely driven by the changing photoperiod (length of day), which triggers hormonal changes that initiate their southward movement as daylight hours shorten. The second grouper are the lazy ones, they are forced down because their food is covered in snow and they get hungry.

So the first group will come down, they just need a little north wind to ride.

While I have only hunted an opening day in southeast Texas for five years, on most years, EVERYONE I know shoots limits on opening day. If you are on visible water, in an area with ducks, and have a mojo going, you will have a good shoot. This year, that was not the case. I had excellent hunting; I knew of several groups just three to five miles away in various directions who had terrible hunts (less than ten birds for 4 to 5 guys).

Rare for us not to shoot 3-4 limits on opener. In Kansas Sat am looking forward to reports here. Think it will be fine. Not much water around, but I have plenty

There's a decent amount of bw teal in the coastal marsh. Actually, people been doing good. Besides teal, there are pintails, gadwalls, and redheads here too.

We hunted Winnie this morning. Got a 9 man limit. It absolutely poured on us for a good chunk everything I was wearing was soaked but had a blast. Mostly blue and green wing teal. Saw huge groups when rain wasn’t coming in sideways.
