Those who own Sitka, First Lite, kuiu, etc. How do you wash it? Anything special?

I've used Sport Wash for years. Machine wash cold or cool, tumble dry low/permanent press. Nothing's fallen apart yet.

Follow the recommended instructions on the tags. Avoid fabric softeners. Cold, tap water cold water temps. Unless something is overly soiled, and even then, I avoid super aggressive wash cycles. Down filled items get washed separately as do water repellant/resistance items that have coatings on them that need to be “recharged”. Most high end brands have guidelines on care also printed on their websites.

Just use free and clear detergent.

What about the UV brighteners? We use the F&C on our normal clothes, but for hunting it's always been Sport Wash for me.

I just follow label instructions and use a no scent detergent and no scent dryer sheet.

Honestly, i usually just spray down any pants i am wearing when field dressing or processing down a deer and dont wash but maybe once before season. But if i need to wash again, the above is the method

Having said that, a lot of stuff has never been washed, outer wear never sees a washing. When that is on, i have plenty underneath to keep scent from soaking internally.

I have no idea if it has brighteners but I’ve had Upwind elk walk past me at five yards.

Only specifically wash I use now is DWR for down or textiles that’s it

I'm sure there are several brands, but this is what we use: https://www.all-laundry.com/product...quid-laundry-detergent-the-original.html

All Free and Clear.
Wool wash for merino on occasion.
Get a detergent with no brighteners or fragrances.

As others have said, All free & clear on cold cycle. I normally hang dry mine though.

For jackets / pants that are water proof/resistant I'll wash those by themselves and use Nikwax whenever the water proofer starts deteriorating. I hang dry these as well.

I've never owned any. Badlands is pricey enough for me and I buy it when it's on sale. Plus it's lifetime warranty so I don't have to do anything special when washing (other than scent-free). Do these brands not warranty their products? scratch

No body warranties a DWR especially since the PFCs purge.

They do warranty zippers, Seams etc

It’s the water repellent finish on most clothing. (durable water repellent). Its what makes water bead up in your pants, jacket etc. It is just a chemical and eventually breaks down.

Scotch Guard is and example of a DWR

DWR “eventually breaks down”,,,, What I’m hearing is the cheap “guide series” jacket from Gander Mt I’ve worn daily hunting 30 years should no longer be worn in a downpour. Usually in a blind so I’ll trust you on that. smile cheers
