Very excited to draw a Wyoming General Tag! Decided I would go during Archery season in the middle of September. Many thanks to Wytex and Bobo. Going with my buddy from the Bear hunt in August. Packed. Habanero's in Trinidad, Co. Don't let the paper plate fool you, eggs with green chilis was awesome! Found a place to camp along a forest service road. Elk bugling, very excited! Saw plenty of hunters around the roads but wouldn't say it compared to Colorado OTC. I'm sure they were there but did not actually see any hunters past these signs. There must have been one because we were taking a break sitting on a log and a 6x6 comes running down the mountain like a freight train and passed 5 yards from us! It was crazy. He had been shot in the high point of his right shoulder. Wound looked like he would definitely recover. Had no time to get my bow up. So close could smell him! Bedding area on a bench about 9200 ft. Normal deadfall Hellish deadfall Spectacular September day Mountain House Chicken and Dumplings, not like Mom used to make! Got into Elk every day and was at full draw once but he wouldn't take that extra step. Could have shot several cows but holding out for a bull. The great thing about Wyoming is that I can come back during Rifle season in October. To be continued!

Awesome. I’m jealous.
Post more pics, especially when you get that bull!

What a hunt! that fallen timber can be a great hot spot I have found in Colorado, but is sure a mean thing to traverse!
