I just saw a picture of a 1961 Chevy Impala SS, and wished I had it. I like the 63’s a lot, but not so much the 64’s. The 62’s looked good to me.

Do you guys have a favorite, or am I one of the only guys that remember what those years even looked like?

I’ve had a few, but never a 1966 Impala SS with 427.
I almost pulled the trigger on one a few years back.

I didn't know what they looked like, so had to go look. I definitely like the '61. After that, they begin to look like a hearse, lol.

Friend of mine in HS drove a 70s something Impala. Great times!

Plus the El Camino and several others, too.

I bought this 1967 a few years ago when classic cars were appreciating really fast. Since then, the market has either stabilized or gone down. Oh well. I will probably keep it anyway and the kids can sell it when I am gone.

That is beautiful. If I had extra room in the garage I would try to buy it from you.

I said Impala. You must’ve missed it. But, I did like the 65 Chevelle. A buddy had a 65 Chevelle SS convertible with “four on the floor”. It was a medium blue. I think the engine was a 283, but could have been a 327. I do remember the wonderful sound it made when he wound it up.

Our town Catholic priest had a blue Nova SS, which was about a 64 or 65.

Related to your post, a friend had a '66 Chevelle SS, 396, 4 on the floor. It could be hard to keep the tires on the ground. Would almost fly!

You left Impala out of the title, so I went straight to just Super Sport. If I'm buying, give me the 6spd manual in the 2016 Chevy SS.

had a friend from Pasadena who's folks were from my central TX home town. when my friend turned 16 (around 1975) and got his license, his dad and him came to home town to get away from the rusted out junk down around the coast to find him a car. They found a '69 Chevelle SS 396 that was just traded in with less than 1000 miles that they bought for him. They took it to a local mechanic to have checked out to find it was a custom ordered car with the L88 (425 hp) 396 with turbo 400 auto and 373 Posi traction with blue body, white top and white interior. He took it back to Pasadena and won lots of money street racing it.

The story behind the car was pretty cool too. A guy from Lampasas custom ordered the car and about when it arrived at the dealership, he got drafted, thru boot camp and then to Vietnam. He went MIA while over there. Before he left for Fort Hood, he detailed out the car, pulled it in his mother's garage and put it up on blocks with a tarp over it with less than 1000 miles. After about 5 years, his remains were recovered and his mother decided to trade in his car for a new one for her to drive.

True, 1967 was the first year the Camaro was produced.

Back in high school, my running buddy had a 1970 Chevelle SS with the 396. That year or the ‘69 would be my choice.

My Bad, i meant 66 but i guess it was actually the year 67 year model. Im not a huge car guy, but the first gen camaro is the only muscle car i would really want.

I successfully made myself feel dumb.

I had a '62 back in the 90s, currently have a '64 and '66, but honestly my favorite at the moment is a '61 rag.

Just a (once upon a time) hard-core Camaro guy giving you a hard time. I've owned a 69 (base package), 73 (RS/Z28), 97 (Z28), and 12 (SS) - and yes the 1st Gen models (67-69) were the best!!

I had a 67 Chevelle SS as my first car. Wish I still had it. Looked like this except the roof was white, not black.
