The fan blades on my compressor fell apart. Easy enough to replace the fan. I am wondering if the compressor is dead from overheating or will it shut itself down? Don’t want to replace the fan if the whole thing is shot.

if there is no high pressure switch, the compressor will run until it gets hot enough to trip internal overload or trip breaker. over load should reset after it cools down. may take a day without putting water or ice on the compressor. you could try it then, if compressor runs get a blade.

Poppa is correct. The internal overload in the compressor should save it.
Tolbert's in Garland is a good place to get a replacement fan blade in a pinch. Those guys know their stuff. Just take in whatever pieces/parts you have and 99 out of 100 times you walk out with something that will work.

If you slung a CFM blade then also check the condenser coil to make sure you didn’t cause a leak.
