We just purchased a few 1000 pound ASV stand and fill feeders and I’m curious how long these little blue topped battery’s can sling corn a day before having power issues, can they sling 30-45 seconds a couple times a day and stay charged?

Not sure if the solar panel can keep up with that much feeding.
For reference, a 3-4 second spin will throw 3.5lbs of corn. Feeding twice a day you'll be feeding 7lbs daily.

you might need to get an RV deep cycle battery and hit the lotto to keep up with the corn bill ... Holy Moley that would be a LOT of corn ... just guessing 30-50 lbs twice a day???

I would think with a good working solar panel, the blue top battery would work for a few days, but get shorter and short cycles as I doubt the panel can fully recharge between those lone spins

I appreciate the comments, it’s been a long time since I slung very much corn but I have them set for 15 seconds 2 times a day now and plan on dumping some out as needed once a week. I’ll see how the battery’s hold up to this for a while and hope for the best. Between cutting all the crops to the lack of rain to the army worms wiping out what we did have growing we have a lot of extremely hungry deer.

I use one of the Eliminator Spring loaded spinners that goes off 3 times a day. Each time is for 7 seconds which equates to 55 lbs weekly. I have one of the blue top batteries on this feeder with a solar panel and that battery is over a year old and doing well.
This is a lot less than the times mentioned but may give some idea.

Yeah I have solar panel on mine and don't need to change. My settings are 7 seconds in the morning and 5 in evening.

One of my hunters just bought a 600LB ASF stand and fill corn feeder. The dealer delivered it and filled it with corn. I drove by his feed pen and saw corn all around the feeder. See pic.
When dealer sent his help out, they set it for 25 second run time for 2 x a day.
To the dealers credit he came out and accessed what the problem was. He reset timer and filled it again at no charge. Can't ask for more than that.

Feeder was set out on September 19th. I was thinking the timer never shut off. Dealer thought the 25 seconds 2 times a day would have emptied it in that time frame. If I find out differently I will update this thread.

30 seconds a day with the plate set at 3/8” will use roughly 80 pounds a week and the battery’s still 100% in case anyone ever wants to know.

That cage deflects a lot of corn. My feeder throws a 70'Ø.

I throw twice a day, 10 seconds per cycle. I use the same timer and motor as All Seasons and never had a problem. Positioned properly your panel should keep your battery up just fine.

Why are you feeding so much?

30 seconds a day seems like a lot but if that equates to 80# a week then its not so terribly much. We will feed between 50 and 75# a week and I think a lot of folks do.
Stating how many seconds you throw isnt usually an accurate way to state how much you are throwing. Depending on things like the gap on the spinner plate, the type spinner plate, and the motor there can be a lot of variance. If it matters to you then I would suggest either catch and weigh each throw and do the math or simply check you useage over time and do the math. My unit of measurement is how many 50# bags per week it throws.
