Just landed only connecting to some exotic destination filled with danger. What is your favorite must have food in the Windy City? Mine is an Italian beef sandwich. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2024/10/full-1231-432908-img_8109.jpeg)

Italian beef sandwich is good. I’ll eat one slice of Chicago style pizza and then go for the tavern style, or whatever they call it. As for restaurants, there is a small Italian place near University of Chicago (I think) that was incredible, but I can’t remember the name of it. Harry Caray’s was really good but we were only there for lunch. I’m sure dinner is good, too.
I just turned it on . I was looking bird dogs in the butt this morning.

Southwest dumped me there one time on my way to Raleigh. Don’t remember what we ate just wanted to leave.

I love Chicago style hotdogs "drug through the garden". Italian beef and tavern style pizza are both favorites. I like deep dish, but it wouldnt be my layover choice.

Had a 3 hour layover which was longer than expected because of a delay. Just hung out in the Admirals Club and enjoyed their food and drink.

A once great city. Loaded hot dog from the street is the only way to go. We sat at Hoffa's table and had a beer.

Ginos east for pizza would be my one "go-to" since there are very few like it.
A good steak or seafood place can be found anywhere.

I've been to Gino's East one time and the Chicago deep dish was pretty damn good - worth a trip back as far as I'm concerned. The Chicago style dogs and beef sandwiches I got around town were pretty meh and nothing to write home about.
People say Chicago is a chit hole and no doubt a big part of it is but I really enjoyed the place. Stayed downtown, watched a baseball game, checked out some museums and ate some great food.
Shoot. Eat. Repeat.

Downtown is pretty nice and there's some cool stuff to see.
