Took a trip to Kebler Pass right outside of Crested Butte. Way too many people for me, but we packed in about 6 miles and were able to get away from everyone. Saw a few moose, but wasn't able to get any good pics. Also listened to elk bugle all night, which is always cool. Beautiful country and the colors were incredible.

It's hard to time it perfectly and really hit the peak change. I wasn't able to take a trip this weekend and most of the leaves will probably have dropped by next weekend.

Those are awesome pics. Thanks for sharing!

We enjoyed them in September and just relocated to NW Arkansas for October. Hopefully we see some there.

Headed there this weekend. Any day hike recommendations, restaurants, or must see/do?

The Slogar has some good fried chicken. I've eaten there a few times. I'm not sure what Kebler Pass is looking like this weekend but it may still have some awesome colors to see. Definitely some great views and the road through the pass is very well maintained. Depending on your fitness level, you could do the loop we did or at least part of it. You park at the Horse Ranch Park trailhead. Start up trail 838 (Dyke mountain) and then stay left on 830 (dark canyon) and it'll make a loop back to 838 and bring you back to the trailhead. It's ~6mi. I highly recommend downloading the COTrex app to anyone hiking in colorado. Take a little extra time to download as much of the map as you want for offline viewing. It'll track you without service.

Just hiked in to camp. I saw one hunter on the trail who said he was hunting bear and saw everything except bear. I still have a list of gear to buy for my girl so she can hunt with me. Next season for sure.

My territory at work expanded this year to include Delta and so I've been over the pass a couple of times this year on work trips. I'd never been through Crested Butte before that and glad I did, that is a beautiful area. I was supposed to be out there today and tomorrow but had a last second sorghum harvest pop up in West Texas that changed my plans. I really want to go up there and camp/hike/ride dirt bikes.
