WTS - custom VZ24 in .280 Remington

This rifle began life as a VZ24, presumably in 8mm. I purchased it from a builder whose name I do not know. It may have been the ugliest rifle ever sold on Gunbroker at the time. It was fugly but I found that it shot very well. If I had photos of the way it was when I received it, it would be obvious why I replaced EVERYTHING except the trigger and the barreled action over time. Current features are: the original Bold trigger and 24-inch A&B barrel, a Mark X bolt & Mark X trigger guard, a Model 70-type 3-position safety (either Dakota or Gentry, don't recall which), all finished with Norrell Moly Resin which is a very tough bake-on finish and all fitted to a Bell & Carlson Medalist stock. The aim was to make it look like an "all business" hunting rifle, and I think I achieved that in spades.

This rifle is a decent shooter. I have never shot a factory round through it, always just handloads. I stuck mainly with 150-grain Partitions, and then decided to try a much more economical bullet, the 174-grain PRVI softpoint. Three shot 100-yard groups at MOA or better with the Partition were fairly common and since I've gone to the 174-grain PRVI, 1 - 1.5 MOA five shot groups at 200 have been the norm.

When fitting the trigger guard I had a slight mishap. I mended the booboo with a little epoxy with coloration in it and while I did not achieve a perfect color match, I decided it was "good enough for now" and to address the color mismatch later (which I never did). It shouldn't be a difficult touchup if you'd care to address it.

I will leave the steel Warne mounts on the rifle (and the Burris Zee rings, if you like). The Nitrex TR Two (same thing as the Weaver Super Slam) scope is NOT included and not for sale, but may be for sale in the future.

I am not looking for swaps, I am trying to depopulate my gun safe...BUT, certain items might tempt me (a nice S&W M41, a Delta Elite if it's proven accurate, 4-inch S&W revolvers, things like that). I am still interested in a nice bolt gun in .260 (just NOT a Savage or Tikka) with a classic-style stock and a barrel length of at least 22 inches but I can live without it. Feel free to throw swap ideas out there if you care to.

$650 cash, FTF in the north Fort Worth area. I am willing to ship, but in strict accordance with the law and at your expense and in which case a check, money order, or Zelle are acceptable forms of payment.

The jewelling on the extractor shown in the first two photos is no longer...I blasted the the bolt body and the extractor to eliminate glare since those photos were taken.
