I sent $$ to Red Cross for the North Carolina mess. My question is this a good org to send it to or are there better ones.

I tend to avoid Red Cross, United Way and a few others like them that don't give the majority of the money to those in need (salaries, fund raising, etc).

Here's a few to pick from

No organizations for me, the man in need doesn't receive it.

I avoid them all. Only donation I make is to the EOD Memorial Scholarship Fund once a year.

Thank You Paluxy, I will send more to Asheville Relief. Having spent so much time out there and knowing folks has made this one close to home. I made the calculated decision to send money and not run up there with a trailer full of supplies and get in the way. So much of the road infrastructure is messed up. I saw a video of 60 18 wheelers from Walmart that made it there yesterday. Hell of a caravan and it was USA all day long.

Since I am sitting right in the middle of all this mess, here is my advice on donations. Support your local groups to assure they are ready when you need them. Also, make sure YOU are prepared in case you find yourself in this situation. The only reason I can even get on the forum is I have Starlink and a home generator.

By the way, FEMA can kiss my rebel [censored]! I have seen case after case of locals trying to help their neighbors but I have yet to see a single person wearing a FEMA jacket! I live out in the middle of nowhere and it was a group of guys from a local church that came by to check on my wife and I.

I can see everyone wanting to help in the relief projects. So many are scams, makes us hesitant to send $$. I would look for someone like Graycard who has directly been affected, ask him where money is needed the most re; local, church, local groups.

Seems the large corporations like Wal-Mart are stepping up.

The government should be handing out money and lining up rebuilding plans as I type this. F Ukraine and Israel until we take care of OUR OWN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The government's response is embarrassing and insulting. This alone should get trump back where he belongs. He needs to start promoting save our own vs save ukraine which only lines more pockets.

sorry got off track with a rant.

Regardless of their operational costs, The Red Cross is the relief organization doing the heavy lifting in disasters.

Hate to say it but I'm not giving any cash to a united fund for something across the country those days are long gone I don't trust them. Now something locally happens then that's a different story, corrupt people made me this way.
