Man it is so hard to find really good fried yardbird, well today I did.
Quite often I will meet my brother for lunch at the Diner on Beltline Rd in Carrollton, food is good but nothing to rave about.

Asked the waitress to look me dead in the eyes and I said "how is your fried yardbird" her huh? I repeated myself but say fried chicken this time and she says it is great!!
She said it is a half a chicken and it will take about 25-30 minutes to cook it, me okay lets do it.

Folks it was dayum good and I will get it again next time.

Looks pretty good. Crispy, without a lot of breading?

Wife and I road tripped starting in Orlando up to Pidgeon Forge and then to Nashville right before the Hurricane went through. For nostalgias sake, she grew up in small town Louisiana, we stopped at a Western Sizzlin with a lunch buffet in no where Georgia. The fried chicken and all the Southern fixins were just awesome! Chicken was crunchy and seasoned on the outside, tender and juicy inside, with taters and cream gravy, green beans with bacon, corn bread, banana pudding with plenty of cookies, man I am hungry thinking about it. Yours looks fantastic!

Lot of bird there. I couldn’t eat that in public without shaming myself!

Seldom eat fried food but sure do like it. Had an itching for some fried yard bird on the way home from hunting today. Stopped by One Stop in Runaway Bay but they were out, cruised into Bridgeport and saw a Bush's Fried Chicken so I gave it a try.

Not a fan one and done there Ordered two thighs and a drum stick no sides for almost $10.00, they looked like big pieces but it was mainly a bunch of crust that was over salted.
Worse part of it all is there's a Brookshires right across the street and I like their chicken!

I have been wondering about that one. They changed from Chicken E to Bush's a short while back, I wonder if they lost their Chicken E franchise? That place had become worse than terrible.

I think Bush's puts their places in small towns with the "What other choice do you have?" motto. Boerne needs a LOT more restaurants, but with all the spoiled rotten white kids living here, it's almost impossible to find help, plus, the rent/property expenses and costs are severely inflated.

We get our fried chicken at Brookshire’s. Way better than Bush’s. Bush’s prices are higher than they should be for mediocre chicken, and I really wonder if the Bush’s in Groesbeck will survive. If they close, I will miss their coleslaw though.

Always need to go dry, wet, dry when battering.

Spoiled rotten white kids. That got me to laughing. I like that.

I can't say nothing about Bush's - never tried it. But I do like the fried chicken there at the One Stop in Runaway Bay (their pork chops too). Guess I won't be getting either as much anymore since I lost the lease though. Between those and Allsup's burrito's maybe it's a good thing for my tummy though. frown

My son and I tried a new Chicken place yesterday called "Chicken Guy" located at Walnut Hill & Hwy 75-Central Distressway!

It is mainly big sandwich's made with chicken strips with great flavor, the crust kind of reminds me a little of the Shake & Bake crust that you pop in the oven.
They have salads and and some neat sides, shakes etc. We liked it and will go back!!!

I had the combo meal "Bourbon Brown Sugar BBQ", Pepper jack, bourbon brown sugar BBQ sauce, special sauce, slaw, pickles & BBQ kettle chips with fried pickles and tea.
Son had the combo "Hot Honey" Nashville hot honey, American slaw, pickles, HOT tenders with fries and tea.
