My youngest son drew a hunt there this year. Anyone hunted there before? How was it?

It’s a beautiful park. We have camped there and seen lots of deer, never hunted it though. Good luck to your son.
You should have been here yesterday!

had a friend that leased the adjoining ranch for many years prior to moving to Mississippi 3 years ago. Some decent bucks (110-125ish), some exotics, lots of pigs .

Our place is about 8 miles away as the crow flies. He should have a good chance at axis and whitetail.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

My son and I hunted there one year and did very well with Axis from blinds close to the river.

My wifes cousin lives on the ranch that shares the same road into the park, they said once that high fence is down they aren't going to replace it. They have a lot of black buck that hang out on that road by the park. One day that flood will come.

My BIL and I hunted the GDA hunt there in 2019. That was the most fun that we have had on a hunt. Between us we shot five whitetail and three axis. We were hunting the blinds closest to the hunt HQ. We would park by the maintenance area and walk in.

Keep your head on a swivel and stay ready. We saw tons of white tails and quite a few axis when we hunted a few years ago. The axis we saw were constantly on the move and if you weren't ready, they were gone before you could get the gun out the window.

Hunted there several years ago on an antlerless/spike hunt. My son and I had blinds just off the park road and near the lake. Saw a bunch of deer and I killed my 3. I saw 3 axis but no shots, like has been said you better be ready, they were moving. While I was quartering up the deer at the cleaning rack, I could hear some bulls roaring, they sounded close.

Hunted there earlier this year. Great host and great hunt unfortunately weather laid everything down after the first afternoon. Only one more animal was killed after that. Better whitetail are up high. Was in Blind 8 the first half and saw a good number. Second half I was in Blind 4 down by the river, beautiful spot. All the Axis were killed in the river blinds. Alfalfa is your friend, they love the stuff.
