My internet provider stinks. I am considering biting the bullet and getting Starlink. They are running a $299 special for the residential package. After that it's $120/month. I can pick up th equipment from Home Depot tomorrow if I want so there's no more wait for the equipment. Pros and cons from those that have it. Thanks

We live east of Durant, OK and we love ours. Just as fast and reliable as being in town. It's funny in the box there are no instructions, load the app on your phone answer the questions and BOOM your on-line. I'm never going back to anything else.
Best $120.00 I spend per month on services.

There is no downside whatsoever for those without fiber options. I've had it for over 2 years at 2 different properties. Setup is easy and service is steady. Speeds are plenty fast enough to stream TV, work with data intensive files and systems, and run plenty of devices. If you can get the equipment for $300, that's less than half of what I paid.

I did spend a good amount of time getting the satellite mounted nicely to the side of the house near the roofline and then running the cables underneath crawl space to get everything looking proper. But you can just set the dish in the yard and run the cable inside if that's what you want.

I had it for over a year until a less expensive fiber connection became available. It worked great 99% of the time, only ever lost connection during a really heavy rain and lightning.

We have had three satellite internet providers over the last 12 years. Starlink has been the most reliable, and fastest processing provider of them all.

My provider is not the greatest either but in this area we have very limited options. Starlink is too expensive.
T Mobile has a device that connects WiFi to their cell system. It's not available everywhere.

I'm thinking they will ALL have that capability soon.

I had this with at&t. Sucked horribly bad best we got was 5 mbps. Had my nephew come by that works for verizon with a "jail broke" version that verizon uses, best he got was 2mbps. Luckily we found nextlink , they had to put a 10' tower on my roof but we get 100 mbps for $75/month. I was fixing to get starlink when we came across them.

We just got Starlink at the ranch and installed it two weeks ago. Prior to Starlink, we've had Hughes, we've had mofi, and another one prior to that. They all SUCKED! I mean download speeds of 5 and upload speeds of less than one most of the time. With Starlink, our download speed is over 100 and upload speed is in the 30-50 range. HUGE improvement. The install instructions did state that speeds will increase as the system adjusts to the location and satellites that are visible. I will run another speed test this weekend.

Only downside that I have come up with is that you have to have a 110 degree clear view of the sky. For me, that meant putting up 4 levels of scaffolding to get to the peak of the roof to mount the receiver. Otherwise, it was simple install.

I was getting 90-100 Mbps on a side of a mountain in southern CO in a spot with zero cell phone service.

Would not be able to work and full time RV travel like we do without it.

In South Fork, CO I regularly get Speedtest results of 300 down and 30 to 40 up.

But the antenna pic below is from Taos.

**dumb question alert**

What can I do with 100+mbs that I can't do with 35? Just more devices at once? Because I don't notice mine being slow, but maybe I am so used to my current set up that I don't know how much better it can be. But we do watch Netflix, Prime, etc.

I got everything together and the mount they sell is pure junk. A very poor design. Kind of surprised me about it. There's no way it would stay on the mount in any kind of wind. I should have researched a little better because it is a complaint many have about the pole mount bracket. I ordered an aftermarket bracket that just came today. I',m shooting for tomorrow or Saturday to hook it up. I'll post up the results.

Got it hooked up and connectivity is much better, Now I just need to figure out why my son's computrer gets 140 Mbps down and I only get 17 Mbps.Oh well that's a project for another day. Not what I was expecting but at least a pretty good improvement.

That sounds like your local network has an issue.
