Since I mangled my left hand pointing finger, and am on painkillers, the wife is doing all the driving. And ya know what, her driving sorta scares me. She’s not a smooth driver. Kinda jerky and big potholes seem to pull her in. We were going into town and had to make a turn. There was plenty of room to miss it, but no sir…square into the biggest pothole in town. She saw it and I saw it, but wham! Naturally, my tongue could not be restrained Hopefully I can heal up soon…before she kills us.
Is it just me, or do you guys have ‘women drivers’? Maybe I’m being unfair about her driving skills…but maybe not.

Yep. Riding as a passenger with my wife driving is to be avoided at all costs.

If I take much more of this ‘anti-GAF’ medicine, I’ll be asleep. But wait…that might be what I need when she drives.

My wife does not want to drive or do I want her to with me in the passenger seat.

My wife’s drives like a grandmother but her older sister drives like me. I still prefer to drive myself.

Just catch up on your social media while you’re riding, that’s what I do. Women can’t drive, that’s why insurance is so high.

The jerky braking! She's not as "hurried woman syndrome" as many though. The ones that speed up to get behind someone and then put their brakes on, over, and over, and over drive me nutz.

If she is such a bad driver, maybe you you should take her car away and drive her wherever she needs to go once you get "healthy".

I don't ever let her drive if I can avoid it. She will use the auto cruise control on the highway, pass someone, get behind a slow vehicle, and get passed by the guy she just passed. I've seen her work herself back 5-6 cars and then later comment about how she passed those cars at one point.
In case you don't know how these work, you can tell it to maintain a certain distance. You pass a car, get behind the slow one, and the cruise slows you down to keep your distance from the car in front. You go from 80 to 70 and get passed by the guy going 75.
A lot of people, and women in general, seriously lack spacial awareness. There's a reason men did the hunter-gathering while they maintained the campsite. SO many just don't have the eyesight/angle/avoid/attack gene.
When men drive, it's foremost on our mind. The first rule of driving is DRIVE THE CAR/TRUCK. Everything else is secondary. When women drive, driving is about 4-5th on their list of chit in their brain.

Well dang, that cruise control thing QuitShootin mentioned is also something the wife does. I rarely use cruise control, but she’ll use it every chance she gets. That wouldn’t be so bad if I thought she had her mind totally focused on driving. It’s really hard to keep my mouth from making comments. My mouth and my brain aren’t always on the same page.

I hate being a passenger and not in control. My wife's not a bad driver per se, but she is uber conscious, slow and careful. She has PTSD from a bad wreck she was in several years back. So when she's driving I have to keep my lip zipped and suck it up.

If I decide to go somewhere, I go. However, if wife is along, she usually drives. She is 11 years younger than me and I believe is more alert.
I’m 81 and spent 25 days in ICU with a busted colon about 3 or 4 years ago. I died twice during that stay and they brought me back. I have no memory of that 25 days. When I got out and went home, I had to take it easy for awhile so I didn’t bust any stitches. I had to walk through the house and my shop to familiarize myself with my world. The awhile lasted for 90 days before the Doc said I could get behind the wheel driving and start getting my strength back. During that time I realized that I now had short term memory issues. I don’t remember yesterday. But, I remember most of my past prior to the hospital stay. I’m now back to walking or jogging a mile per day.
If I disassemble the bolt on a rifle, it will take me several times to get it back together correctly. It took 3 times for me to reassemble an Ambassadeur casting reel. I’ve done that stuff for over 50 years. I’m very reluctant to get back to hand loading.
Neurologist has tested me for memory issues including brain scans. No physical problems and no early indicators of Alzheimer’s. Doc says that, with no early signs, I can’t possibly live long enough to get that dreaded disease but have the highest IQ of anyone he has tested with my degree of short term memory problems. He also says that most of the surviving post polio survivors, like me, have various degrees of CRS.
I’ve talked to some high school buddies at our monthly lunch get together. About 75% admit to having CRS of some kind or another. I have a world a world class case of CRS.

I drive everywhere we go, he is slow. Cruise control, he turns it off and on instead of setting and driving, same with wipers. No intermittent just off an on, drives me crazy !!
Old men drivers get in the left lane and go slow, their trucks can't pull a camper at the speed limit and then they look at you when you pass them like WTH. In town you all drive under the sped limit all over the place.
Stay home and let your women get the errands run !!

Yessiree, I thought I’d hear from Wytex on this. When I was generalizing about women drivers, she was not included in my thoughts. I’m thinking that she is extremely competent in all areas.
That said, the woman driver thing is a real thing. We see it too often to completely ignore it.

My wife drives like a 4 year old strolls through a rain shower. Any puddle or pothole or bump in the road pulls her in like a cop to a donut and she makes as big of a splash as possible.
