Have a 2018 Colorado , headlights have always been terribly weak. Thinking of changing out to better bulbs or potentially putting a LED light bar on the lower bumper .

Any thoughts on the better approach given my goal is simply to see better in the dark ?

Check regulations on the LED light bar. It's not against inspection (going away soon) regulation but traffic laws aren't always the same as equipment regulations. Are the lens frosted from age? If so, having them polished and sealed (lasts about 18-24 months) goes a long way. Aftermarket replacements are okay too as long as you do research on the particular brand. OEM headlights are generally very expensive (insurance pays for most of them is why). I have had good luck with Amazon OEM copy lamps but I always run some black sealer around the lens edges before I install. Upgraded bulbs help too but be wary of the color range to avoid blue tinted lights.

Pass the gravy.

I’ll hate you if you put the light bar and drive with it on the road. They really suck for the other side of the light.

Thanks GG , I knew you’d know.

RedChevy, this is a good point and I most likely will avoid the light bar for this reason. Don’t need someone getting mad at me and shooting my lights out

Get the light bar and have switch to turn off when not needed.
