Happy 77th to the USAF (yesterday), and thanks to the Montana Air National Guard. PLF complete. Reserve chute deployed. Main chute malfunction. 1st Lift, 4th Pass.

It had been 10 years since my last jump, but I have four jumps just since going back on jump status and I'm just now beginning to feel like I've got most of the rust knocked off. The trooper who deployed their reserve is a jumpmaster and knows his way around a parachute. We're still investigating the issue and while his canopy looked good, he was definitely falling faster than his fellow jumpers. Could have been really bad had it been a less experienced jumper. In fact, I think the 82nd just lost a young paratrooper last week, so the community is pretty wired right now. I've only done static line, but IIRC, my highest would be 1,500 from a CH-47. I'll confirm that with my guys. Military Freefall is usually around 12k.
