Probably got 1/4 of the way through before I realized how long of a read the story is. Probably 99% of the time when you have a major development or corporate move into an area like that, some of the regular folks are going to get screwed and most of the politicians will make a lot of money off of it.
I have a friend who bought a small townhouse on a waterway real close to there about 8 years ago, his property is worth 4 times what he paid for it.

SpaceX has made a lot of competitors angry and those powerful competitors are not reacting well. They are way far ahead of any other space program. Like way beyond far ahead for them to catch up.
