Looking for tips and suggestions. It lists exotics as being a possibility, just wondering if any one has done this. My sons would love to shoot an exotic, and/or a javelina. Curious what the chances are. Thanks in advance.

Mudpig ive hunted there twice with my son. Its a great target rich environment we saw deer, hogs, javelina and axis were shot on the hunt but not in our unit. My son ended up shooting does and missed a good buck. Earlier hunts have more sucess pm me if you need any pointers.

Both of my sons got to hunt there for last year's hunt. It rained most of the weekend, but we still had success. My 11 year old son shot an axis buck, a javelina and a hog while we were there. He also saw quite a few deer with fawns he elected not to shoot. There was action on just about every hunt. My older son was drawn for a TYHP hunt that same weekend and we went to that hunt and then came back for the last evening of the hunt and he shot a doe. We should have just stayed at San Angelo State Park and hunted there. There are some more productive areas than others and some blinds/locations are better than others. A lot of times you can move around on Sunday if you're not happy with the blind you were given. Bring lots of hand corn as well for your hunts, bring comfy chairs and tape and mesh to cover the windows. We booked a cabin on site and it was great staying where we hunted. Lots of hogs and javelina and deer. Last year there was a limit of 1 javelina and we had constant activity. There are a few axis around, but not many, and you just have to be lucky in being at the right spot at the right time.
It's a quality hunt and we put in for the draw again this year, but weren't drawn.
Feel free to message me for any other questions.

I drew a turkey hunt down there several.years ago. Saw a lot of deer in the two units that were separated by the river. No exotics but I was told they were there when I was hunting one of the units closer to the main park area.
Cabins were nice but no bathrooms.
And don't shoot the longhorns.

hunted the antlerless hunt last year with my daughter. It was hot. the blinds aren't bad but a comfy chair would be nice and a gun rest. We could have shot javelinas every 10 minutes I bet. She killed one and they kept coming back. I had 2 in my compartment that their head was as big as the rest of their body, I held out for deer but only saw 2 the whole hunt. They will call about a month before and you can tell them your wish list and I think they try to make it happen. Staff was really helpful. We stayed at an AirBnB that was about 20 minutes away.

@scalebuster. I do have one question for you I’m not sure if it’s changes since then. At twin buttes can you only park at the designated parking? I see info stations but only a few parking stations. Let’s say for example unit 5 there is no parking but it shows open unit. Where would someone park?

They have a hunt overview for the blinds you've been selected for and have a parking spot for each blind location.
