Since I got in Los Fresnos I see a lot of these goofy things. I grew up hunting mallards, teal, widgeon etc... but have never seen these before I got here. They any good on the table? With as many as I see it seems a relatively easy thing to get a few. Are they worth burning shells for?

I don't think so, but check with the mojados.

I’m sure others will not agree but I think they are one the best eating ducks of them all. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2024/08/full-19470-429255-img_9410.jpeg)

I live in Metairie Louisiana and have been a strong proponent of allowing BBWD - Tree ducks to be harvested in south Louisiana when they are here. Driving home today from work in my neighborhood I saw BBWD of the roofs of two houses in the picture. A common occurrence where we live. Time for the rules to change to allow this thriving, almost nuisance resource to be harvested by willing and able Louisiana duck hunters. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2024/09/full-66591-430772-bbwd_9_10_24.png)

They are good eating. We have a ton for some reason on the lease this year. We’ve never seen them in numbers like we have in last two weeks.

They sit on those asphalt shingle roofs to get grit off them. Have to imagine 50 or 100 of them could strip a roof pretty quick.

While we were standing there fishing they landed right by us. It would have been easy to pick a couple off. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2024/06/full-9493-423508-15781210_10202909053082671_3551221890475554658_n.jpg)

Around Corpus they are still around pretty good usually until the end of the first split. Normally you catch them flying back to water from people deer feeders
