Lots of recommendations about different brands of 4 wheelers.

I’m on my 2nd pair of 4 wheelers over the last 35+ years. They, or a tractor, are the only way we get around on my place South of Bowie. There is a washed out road running one mile from front to back and trails to deer feeders. The topography is hilly, rough, rocky, heavily treed, washed out and mean. I’ve owned the place for approximately 40 years but don’t live there.

I started out with Yamahas. They got stolen and the Yamaha dealers were over priced. So, I went with Hondas that have never given me any problem. A neighbor has Suzukis that he swears by. Other neighbors have different brands. I believe the brand isn’t all that important. Neighbors have different brands that are work machines that are used daily; not working toys like mine.

I believe that most of the brands are good bikes. The only maintenance I do is change oil and filter every couple of years. Check air pressure in tires.

If you have a mechanical problem, you will probably find that dealerships hire make ready people but not even decent mechanics. Hunt up a motorcycle repair shop with real mechanics.

If you want to leave it on the property, get a used shipping container that can be locked and a shield put over the lock. I learned that the hard way.

Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

I’d go with Honda, because I like gears. The wife’s new Yamaha Kodiak is great, but that CVT just isn’t what I prefer. As for engines and reliability, I’ve been happy with previous Yamahas, Suzukis, and Hondas. It might be years before a new one would need work, but I would still factor in the distance to where you can get it worked on.
