PSA. Just had Discount Tire take back a set of Cooper Discover AT3’s on my 3/4 ton Ram. Second tread separation I’ve had in 9 months. Less than 15k miles on the tires. Used to brag on here that they were great tires (good ride good traction good on wet roads) but stranding me twice is no frigging bueno. Switching over to a set of Goodrich T/A KO3’s. At 4 bills plus each they better be all that and a bag of chips.

You can find online a bit about Cooper Discover AT3 tread separation. Seems to be more common.
I'm due for tires this fall when we get back to the hill country. Last time all they had in the category I wanted were Bridgestone Dueler LX. Michelins were on backorder.
I'll be putting Michelin LTX A/T2 on this time. Expensive but always had good luck with that tire. I get to buy 6 of them.

Michelin defenders Platniums. Very quiet tire, worked great in the mud during the dove opener. I always run Michelins. Plus there is a 70,000 prorated warranty. 295/65/20

BFG KO2s on my 3/4 ton ram barely made it 20k. Never again. Goodyear ultraterrains made it 27k. Just put Falken Wildpeak AT4s on for $1800 at discount. Will see how they do. At least they have a 60 or 65k warranty.

I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

Toyos are much better tires than Goodrich. How so? On AT’s via diesel 3/4 in my experience a lot longer tread life for Toyo, but the BFG AT2 do have tougher side walls. With that said I just had my wife’s suburban’s toyo At3 rotated and she was at 75k with 8/32 left. I’m currently running BFG KM3 as Toyo was in national back order at the time. Ya terrible idea, loud and rough. I’m currently pricing falken RT and Toyo RT trail for my next set. I think I’m going with Falken RT’s

On my second set of Toyo RT 35s. Got great wear and life out of first set way passed stated mileage. Had MTs on another truck and really like the RTs better.

I’m a Yokohama fan. X-AT’s will be my next set.
Having decent luck with my factory Goodyear M/T’s though

Over 86,000 miles on a set of cooper AT’s on a half ton ram diesel. Lots of trad left, at this point I’ll replace due to age before they wear out.

I put 3 sets of BFG KO2’s on my Ram in 183,000. They worked great for what I needed. The Goodyear Duratracs on my Tremor have really impressed me but they don’t make a 12.5 wide tire so I’ll move to something else but it won’t be the KO3’s as I just don’t like the tread pattern.

Michelin LTX AT/2 are the best tires I have found. Even though I only got 35,000 to 40,000 miles out of them. Pulling 20,000 lbs is hard on tires. Goodyears don't come close to this mileage. Now that I have a lighter RV, maybe I'll get more life out of the tires.

I went out and looked to see what I was running and I run Cooper A/T3s as well. I always have. I thought maybe the separation issue was caused by the weight of the 3/4 ton, but then I realized that I ran a set on my F250 and Duramax, both. I currently have them on a F150. I didn't know about this and have never had the problem myself, but will keep an eye on them. Thanks.

My tire guy told me earlier this year that Cooper Tire quality has gotten pretty bad. So bad he won't sell them anymore. I had a newer Cooper balloon out on me. I use to always run Cooper, never again.

The coopers I have are not AT3’s, just plain old cooper AT’s bought from Walmart of all places. Dad has the same tires on his Cummins with about 30,000 to 40,000 miles on them almost look new.

I’ve had Nitto’s, Michelin, Toyo’s, etc. when my 35in Toyo’s hit 40k, they started getting slippery. Was going to go back to them but Discount was out and convinced my to try the BFG KO2. Currently have 35k miles on them and they still look new. Great in the rain also.

I've worn out a couple of sets of Cooper ST Maxxs', about 2/3rds done with a set of AT3s with another set of AT3s in the shop ready to go on. Never had an issue that wasn't caused by me running something over. I may just be lucky i guess.
I heard they were discontinuing the AT3 in several sizes, one just happened to be my size so I went ahead and ordered another set. $285 each from a local shop. They were always $325+ for me at Discount Tire and Southern Tire Mart.
