I know we've done this a few times, but the technology is changing fast. Anyone done research, or bought a new one lately? What are you liking?

The wife has one and likes it. It’s a ‘Lectric’. I think that’s how it’s spelled. Supposedly will go 40 miles on a charged battery. And it was about the least expensive one she could find.

I would decide if you want a street bike, Mountian Bike, or Hybrid Bike (Hybrid is made for street and off road)

I like a bike that I sit up high on, some like to bend over some. I dont' have an electric bike but I do have the same frame at this Trek Verve which is pretty comfortable to ride on the street.

Here is an example of a Verve in Electric:

I've been thinking about this one. Most of the reviews seem legit.

Only 27 very high ratings? I read through some. I would be skeptical the reviews are compromised.

Ive been using them the last three years to elk hunt. been through a couple different iterations and have several friends that have different models.

There are several good options out there, depending on what you will use it for. No need to buy the high-dollar bikes from the big brands like Bakcou etc...

If you need alot of torque to get up hills, best deal going is the "E-cells Five Star". $2200

Lectric has a new, fat tire bike that is about $1300. I have a buddy that has a different model Lectric and it has been a great bike.

Watch out for how they measure torque. Newton Meters (Nm) is the standard. The E-cells advertises something in the range of 150-160nm, which is the highest you will find, and it is legit. some brands will advertise a Nm rating that is not real and you will be disappointed...

happy to discuss more if helpful...

My advice is to go ride one first. I assumed they would a ride up any hills like a quiet motorcycle and found that they still need assistance from the rider depending on the steepness. If you’re in a flat area, disregard.

Agree,
not too many "flat" deer leases, guess you could ride one to a deer blind.

I'm not sure where you want to use it but there are restrictions for places like BLM land. It has to be a class 1 out the 3. Just FYI.

They would be rather dangerous to ride for hunting, Hit a rut in the ground your down, Even when I ride I have to look out for mud spots, it's like being on ice on bike and you only have 2 wheels.

What if you get a flat tire? Or run out of juice..

I got one at a great price on clearance a few years ago. They are great but you do have to pedal going up steep hills to maintain your speed. I use mine for fishing and hunting. Hooked a cart on the back and can carry everything I need. 3 years old and still runs great. With the new technology the prices keep dropping and the bikes get faster. [Linked Image]

We have some pretty serious hills in my neighborhood. It restricts the bike riding a bit. Thought the electric bike might help with that. Get some exercise on the flatter areas, then use the motor for getting up the long hills.
