Does anyone make a decent electric UTV these days? The Polaris starts at over $30k. I could get a Chevy 1/2 ton for that and they're quiet too. I'd like a UTV kind of like the old Bad Boy Buggy. I don't plan to use for work; just getting around quietly.

My cousin bought a Bad Boy side by side a few years ago. It was a tricked out battery powered sort-of golf cart. Lifted, mud tires, extra batteries, gun racks. Mostly used it for bow hunting. He really liked it, and had plenty of good things to say, but the next time I was over that way, it was gone. He said that when winter rolled in and the mud got real deep, it just wasn’t much good. The mud was that Louisiana gumbo mud that sticks to everything - boots, tires. It couldn’t spin the tires fast enough to sling the mud off, so the mud built up and the battery powered buggy just slowed down and died, and he walked home in that deep mud.

But…he had money and was inventive. Next machine was one of those Japanese mini-trucks, which didn’t work out too well. So the next machine was another Japanese mini-truck in 4wd, with lifts and big mud tires and extended cab. That thing would go about anywhere. Plenty HP and ground clearance, windshield wipers, heat and AC. I rode with him a few times. That was a mud slinging machine.

I should call him and see what sort of mud machine he has now.

If a fellow isn’t in an area of that extreme mud, a battery powered SxS should work pretty well. It would be quiet, and quiet is good during hunting season.

Nice and recently built - lifted - tricked out golf carts can be had for under $10K on FB Marketplace. How rough of terrain are you using it on?

Pass the gravy.

I have a Bad Boy Buggie that is 10 years old that I dearly love. With proper maintenance they will be very dependable.
If I was going to buy a new one it would be from Landmaster.

Good luck

I like my cart but no matter what you do it’s still going to have a golf cart suspension and ride.

Some of the names are Huntve and Kandi.

My buddy just bought a Kandi. Jury is still out. I know he got stuck in mud already.

I also know another guy selling his bad boy

Polaris made an EV Ranger but I think they fizzled out.

I feel that HuntVE is the way to go, hybrid that is battery or engine operated.

There are some good aftermarket A arm front suspension that can make a rally difference in the ride!

I don't plan on working it, but it will be going through some thick sand - like a beach. I'm going to look into the HuntVE and Landmaster as mentioned above.
