Has anyone tried to trade-in a deleted diesel truck? If so, what issues have you run in to if any?

We have done so but it's 100% getting wholesaled therefore the trade value is very low. In regards to getting one done, the biggest issue is finding someone willing to break Federal law that doesn't charge an arm and a leg. All depends on what vehicle your working with too. The GM L5P costs ten digit money to delete because the ECM has to be physically altered.

Pass the gravy.

I took mine to the dealer with no intentions of actually trading it in, I had a cash offer of $18,000, but I wanted to see what the dealer would do. They started at $16,500, the subtracted $3,500 per catalytic converter (2), then $5,000 for the DEF filter and tuning. So the offer was actually $4,500. I had to play the trade in game to get the offer they advertised on the truck.

You’d have better luck trading it or selling it to a place like Dallas Diesels where they specialize in diesel trucks and most of them are deleted.

Thanks for the information. I suspected the dealers wouldn't give you nearly what it's worth, but I haven't known anyone who actually had experience with it. I am still on the fence on whether or not I intend to keep the truck in the long term or try to move in a different direction. Right now I have a 5th wheel camper and need it, but am thinking about downsizing and wouldn't need a diesel. I am having some issues with the DPF and sensors and the cost of replacing the parts may be nearly the same as deleting them, so I have a decision to make.

I'm on the other side of the coin. Warranty out now, and plan on keeping it. 19 F-250 6.7.

Any thoughts on folks that still do it, with discretion of course...I just want my truck to breathe in and out like it should and run the family down the highway with minimum effort.

PM if need be. I'd love to get some real world costs, efforts, ramifications these days.

I know a place in the Garland area that will do it turn key and they do a lot of them, shoot me a pm if you need the number. If it was a Cummins I could walk you through it and anyone semi handy with tools could do it with zero problems. It’s roughly a 5 hour job including a new exhaust,
