I own 1, bought in '99. It's incredible.

They’re excellent reliable scopes with good glass. If you’re buying new I wouldn’t buy the 525 pm II unless it’s significantly on sale. It’s their old flagship scope that is awesome but has been surpassed in that price range.
If you’re looking at their top tier scopes also consider ZCO and Kahles new 328. Schmidt may still be the right choice for you but there are options. Take the final leap to Tangent Theta
What are you looking at and what is your goal?

What are you looking at and what is your goal? ^^Good advice. I will add Night Force ATACR if weight is not a factor and Night Force NX8 if you want smaller and lighter. I own two ATACRs and one NX8. I used a new NX8 today on a new custom built rifle. It performed flawlessly from 100 to 800 yards. As I expected.

If I’m spending your money this is the order I would be looking at
TT 315H ZCO 420 Kahles 328
ATACR = S&B but at a better price point than S&B
NX-8 great magnification range and reliable but with lesser glass. This is still a good scope.
Watch the low end magnification, too much is not appealing hunting bears up close. The 525s and 527s would be out for me.
Scopes I currently use and like
ZCO 527 target SS 5-20HD Bushnell DMR-II 3.5-21 Meopta 3-9x40 (hunting in the woods) Leupold VX-5 3-15 firedot (hunting)
Just one man’s opinion but I’ve spent a fair amount of time doing it wrong to figure out what works for me.

I hunt. Pronghorn. Bear. Alaska. Rough and difficult old school 4-16 ATAC only knock is weight If short action the nxs8 2.5-20x50 isn’t bad If weight is an issue march 2.5x-25x42mm maven RS1.2 - 2.5-15X44 FFP And then the jack of all trades master of tough-NXS – 2.5-10x42mm
Bottom line, never trust a man whose uncle was eaten by cannibals.-Sen Joni Ernst

To compare S&B glass to NF isn't fair or does the S&B justice. My 2 cents...
There is nothing wrong with a S&B, especially if that is what you want. A lot of other good glass mentioned in the post but that wasn't your question.

I have the original S&B 5-25 PM2 scope, and it's awesome. I put it on my ELR rifle, 7-300 Win Mag, for shooting out past a mile. It has done very well for me and is a high quality scope. S&B scopes are at the top of the list on high end scopes.

Sounds like he is looking for more of a hunting type scope versus long range dialing but I could be wrong. I am thinking more the Summit or Klassic line of S&B and if that’s the case the answer is yes they are great scopes and should serve you well. If your into long range hunting shooting say over 400 yds then suggestions above are on track and offer lots of options.

For hunting, I really like my S&B Polar T96 4-16 x 56. Mil/Mil FFP with exposed turrets with lock. Glass is insane. Light gathering is incredible. Very generous eye box and good eye relief. Size and weight is very manageable (28 oz). I enjoy being behind it more than my NF ATACR, March. My hands down favorite is TT 5-25 but it’s a beast at 40+ oz.
