Got an invitation to go fishing with some good friends.
Beautiful day on the water in Eastern Wyoming.
Caught 16 walleye, kept 13 of them, 7 yellow perch- 5 went in the live well, a drum and 2 carp.

Snap jigging slab spoons was the ticket.

Had about 6 or so over 20 inches.

I have never caught one before, would love to.

I used to target them at Lewisville Lake by the old party cove where I35 crosses, we would use deep diving crankbaits off he rocks, never got one.

I caught one one time at Grapevine while drift fishing for catfish, I saw it but it pulled off it was about 18 inches.

Best eating fish I’ve tasted.

Went to Nebraska once and hired a guide. Trolled around using downriggers and caught a mess of them around 15-18”.

Kept and ate every single fish.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

There's Walleye in Lake Lewisville/Grapevine?

Walleye and yellow perch are awesome eating fish. Nice white flakes and no fishy taste.
I coat the filets with Panko bread crumbs, Italian seasoned, a light sprinkle of Ragin Blaze and lemon pepper then pan fry.
The walleye have Y bones that have to be removed for boneless filets. Our friend can filet walleye in no times and he lightly brines the filets before freezing, they last a lot longer in the freezer that way.
We trade fish for wild game every year.

p.s. limit, 5. 2, under 16 inches

Wytex, between walleye and yellow perch, which one do you think tastes the best?
It’s a toss up for me and haven’t ever got to taste test both at the same time. I’ll say that yellow perch are pretty darn tasty. I don’t know anywhere in Texas that has yellow perch but I sure wish we had them.
