Freddie King, Buddy Miles, Beach Boys, Chicago. 1975
Cotton Bowl, sitting in a folding chair on the field about 20 feet from the stage.
We got to go in the Cowboys locker room where they had a 55-gallon Huskey trash can full of iced down Coors, tons of food (all health food) Beach Boys were all into healthy food. This is where the bands hung out before going on. NEVER forget it,
didn't meet any of them though.
Most here know my Dad worked for the Cowboys. Buddy, the man who guarded the gate which led down on the field (the one you see on TV during the Texas/OU game). was a friend of Dads, he let us in, and we walked down to the field where we sat in front of the rolls of tarps which covered the field in the rain.

Went to the beach boys concert at Starplex like 1998ish. Place was maybe 1/2 full if that. It was an awesome concert. As far as live voice best I been to. It's Clint Black. He sounded great live

Springsteen, at the Summit. Born in theUSA tour. We were right up front. Couldn’t hear much for days after that. Of course…now I dislike the SOB. And…Ray Charles and the Raylettes was something to remember. And Janice Ian in a small venue in Houston was great. Being a man however, in a crowd of big lesbians didn’t make me feel too secure. But…I did have biggest uuuuh, you know what in the whole place. So there’s that… The one I wish I had seen was Joan Jett and the Blackhearts when she was at maximum hotness. Of course, she had sexual confusion too, but seeing me in tight jeans…ya know…

In January 1980 I saw AC/DC on the Back in Black tour. Outstanding concert and figured it would never be beat. Then later that year I saw ZZ Top's Cheap Sun Glasses tour and thought it was the best concert ever. A week after that I saw Van Halen on their Invasion tour and they topped it. David Lee Roth was insane and the light show set a Guinness world record. Best rock-n-roll year in my life.

Only been to one rock concert. Iron Butterfly, back in 1969, outside at the Playboy Club in Geneva Wisconsin. Now, I've been to several dozen concerts down in the Valley for Mesican/Tejano music. Orale buey!

Two memorable ones...first one was around 1990 and saw Ted Nugent and Bad Company...both put on polar opposite type shows but was great. Mark Chesnutt played at a conference I went to once for a group of about 60 of us...it was pretty cool just him and his guitar telling stories and playing songs.

Jean-Luc Ponty, El Paso in the summer of 1990. Played a small outdoor venue known at that time as the "Sports Plex," and as the summer evening cooled it became very, very pleasant. The sound was incredible.
Saw Freddie King and BB King along with Bloodrock and a few others at McKelligon Canyon in El Paso, another outdoor venue in the early 70s. It rained. And it was nice! I remember the atmosphere and "ambiance" much better than the music, but I enjoyed it.
Alice Cooper at El Paso County Colosseum, summer of 1972. Don't recall who else played, but that was a pretty good concert.

Probably KISS back in the day. Never was a big fan but they put on a hell of a show.
Music wise several Dire Straits concerts.

Saw the Stones in 1965 at Will Rogers. We had seats on the floor. They came out to the stage in an armored car. It was a good show. No theatrics or special effects, just music.

AC/DC Highway to Hell in San Antonio. I was in 7th grade. Molly Hatchet opened. Man, that was a show. Rush “Moving Pictures” was ridiculously good. Also in SA. I was at two Texas Jams but it’s pretty damn blurry. Early 80s. Ozzy was at one of them. Scorpions too. I really enjoyed Kansas in 1981ish. Several events at the Starplex with Steve Miller and Def Lepard. Separately of course. Swinging the other way King George in 93 and Brooks & Dunn in 2010 or so. Close up and personal on the latter.
I saw G&R at Texas Stadium in ‘88 or ‘89 and they sucked. Massive technical issues. Axel was having a fit and throwing chit all over the place. For whatever reason Iggy Pop and Ziggy Marley had zero issues.

Yardbirds, with Jeff Beck on guitar, Jimmy Page on bass, August 1966
Harry Chapin, April, 1976 They finally turned off the lights or he would probably still be playing
Elvis, May 1976 Concert was just okay, but we did see Elvis
Beach Boys, July 1984 OKC ballpark with wife & kids

Been to quite a few. A couple of very memorable ones. Most of the memorable ones were unlikely memorable.
Brad Paisley at MGM in Orlando. Not a massive fan of his, but a chick I was dating at the time wanted to go. The crew shut down the concert midway through due to a torrential downpour. Said it wasn't safe due to water on the stage and electricity. So, Brad sat on a stool in the middle of the stage in a torrential downpour with his acoustic guitar singing at the top of his lungs with no microphone or speakers. He gained a lot of respect from me for that.
Kevin Fowler at some little festival in Plano. 1st concert that I attended with my wife. We still go see Kevin every time we can.
Mike Mancy at Love and war. Mancy is a good friend of mine, and was my son's 1st concert. My son disappeared before the concert started and threw me into a panic. I called his phone and when he answered, I asked "where in the hell are you?!" He replied, "I'm hanging out with Mancy in the green room". I think he was 10.
Then, there was the time that I puked on the side of Big Head Todd and the Monsters bus.

You old guys are awesome. Blackout... Bon Scott? Genius
My first and a best show was Van Halen in Jan. 1984 on Ed's birthday. I think the original band was done 6 months later. Valerie brought out this huge cake and all the guys in the band ended up sliding around on the stage floor like kids. Hard for me to describe for you younger guys what it was like for an album cover to come to life... goose bumps.

Cheap Trick, Foreigner, Christopher Cross, and The Eagles at the Day of Rock and Roll in the Louisiana Superdome, 1980. No other concert I attended comes close. Can't remember what tickets cost but it couldn't have been more than $30 bucks. Link

1963 on the Beach Stage at Pontchartrain Beach in New Orleans - Roy Orbison, Jimmy Clanton, the Mac Rebbenack Band (later aka Dr. John), His Skyliners, Wayne Newton (Danke Schoen) and more! Man, that was a l-o-n-g time ago.
