Some of these pistols they drop makes me cringe, but I find it ironic that most of the super expensive guns are the ones that aren't drop safe.

Oh, that makes me cringe!!! The pistols with the light trigger pull and light firing pin spring are the one's going off. That doesn't surprise me on the 1911 and 2011 pistols.

That's the slight advantage of series 80 1911s over series 70s.
A firing pin block should be mandatory on any duty or carry pistol.

Yeah, they would lack the firing pin safety if they were able to discharge.
The thing about the Stacattos, for example, is that they aren't discharging because the hammer is dropping. It's just the inertia of the firing pin and being able to travel to strike the primer. This wouldn't be possible on a gun with a firing pin block like a Glock or Series 80 1911/2011.

I saw a Glock used to try and break a window on a vehicle and the slide flew off and landed about 20 feet away. A Sig P220 followed up and broke it with ease.

I’d imagine that gun might not have put back together correctly after a strip or something. The impact of a round going off is probably twice the force of the gun smacking a window. Did you guys figure out what failed on it after the fact? Frame break?

Did you guys figure out what failed on it after the fact? Frame break? We had an officer rack his Glock with enough force he pulled the slide off the back of the gun. It happens. I hit an object hard enough with the muzzle of my P226 to eject a round. It happens. I don’t recall ever dropping my pistol though.

Did you guys figure out what failed on it after the fact? Frame break? He hit it on a side/down angle to use the outside edge of the slide to hopefully break it and it jumped off the rails. It was just a car burglar so he got a bit carried away when the guy locked himself in the getaway car. I was laughing so hard I could barely talk with the guy when I was dragging him out of the window.
