Ok so I have been mowing twice a week regularly my zoysia grass since growing season with no issues.. What’s killing me is the last 3 times (weekly now due to heat) the next day I am feeling like I have allergies and sick, almost like the flu is coming on and its horrible, then within 48 hours it’s gone. But I go mow again and the process starts all over again.

Just me?

Not just you. It's a bad allergy year. I suffer as well. If I know I'm going to mow I take a Claritin D to help with the symptoms.

Bad air days combined with the Saharan dust and heat have my nose stopped up something fierce. Lots of stuff in the air right now.

My bermuda/dallis grass lawn gives me the same issues.

I take a Zyrtec before, wear a mask like a lib during and take a Claritin right before my post mow shower.

If I don't follow that routine my nose runs like a faucet for 36+ hours.

Sounds like allergies but another thing to consider is hydration. Are you drinking enough for the heat?

N95 mask to mow is my suggestion. Pollen is bad this year. And then a shower immediately after to get it off your skin and hair. That's my process anyway...

Flonase helps me with those issues, and it doesn't make me sleepy like some allergy medicine.

Did allergy shots for 5 years with no results. Tried all the expensive prescription meds, too. For the last 7 years, I use an OTC saline rinse every morning and at night called NeilMed. It eliminates all allergens from your nasal passages and clears all of the nasty mucus, as well. Also use OTC generic antihistamine fluticasone spray. That's the best way for me to stay on top of it.
