This place is a joke but also the best way to sell something I hear. I dug up my Facebook to post something and what a pain in the rear. There are some truly bored people out there. I either have no patience or am just getting old and grumpy. This is why I give things away or throw them away vs selling them. I didn’t even say what I wanted to say here. Don’t want to be banned.

I bought a tractor that should have cost 30K for 23K on there. It just takes patience and knowing how to filter out the scams but there are some smoking deals on it. I only sell FTF and local on it so it hasn’t been much of a PITA to sell.

I was more talking about the pile of people clicking the “is this still available “ button then not even replying when I respond. Boredom or …

I put in my listing that anyone only tapping that won’t be responded to.

I don't do FB but use my wife's account to buy and sell. It can be a crap shoot at times but its certainly better than Craig's List, that is a chit hole.

I don't sell much on there but I do buy a few things from time to time. It's handy.

It's by far the best place to buy or sell something without fees. I just now listed 3 things on there that my boys have outgrown. Too useful to throw away and can get back some money from my initial cost. I also just sold a youth rifle here on THF, which FB Marketplace doesn't allow.

My gal uses it to sell some piece of furniture from time to time. She said stuff sells fast. Over time you can figure out the scams. "Is it still available" is 100% scam she says.
She kinda likes doing it seems like so Im gonna let her try to sell my 06 Tundra. If she'll mess with it Ill let her.

I’ve sold some furniture on it and other stuff on Nextdoor. Both have their share of scammers and tire kickers. What I don’t get is the folks selling stuff for like $5.00, or even less. I wouldn’t waste my time with the idiots for that $.

Amen on the cheap stuff. I’m questioning my wisdom on a boat.

“Is this still available?” doesn’t indicate a scam at all. It’s the auto-populated default response that FB uses when a potential buyer replies to any seller.

Must be a location thing. I have never had anyone respond with one of those automatic responses

No, you have to push that button vs giving an actual response.

NOT auto-populated. It's a default button you gotta press. It's for those with so little creative thought they need Facebook to write their sentences for them.

"Is it available" is not a sign of a scam, it's a sign of an idiot you don't wanna deal with. "Hello, I just love your postings. Will you send me a friend request so we can talk over messenger" is a sign of a scam.

I sell a lot on eBay but I always try FBM first because it's local (I chose for it to be) and free. Neither apply to eBay.

Pass the gravy.

I have used FB Market place for a long time, use to be some helacious deals on there, but that was then and this is now.
Now there are so many different types of scams on there, plus there are obviously a lot more folks camped out on there (re-sellers) waiting for a deal to pop up, you have to come across the deal within the first few minutes of being published or it is snatched up, selling stuff no problem, buying is the challenge.

Same here, I tell her what it is and how much and she has pretty good track record of selling things, most of my stuff is Milwaukee Cordless tools, or Cowboy Memborila

I have gotten some steals off FB on Exercise Equipment, I got a recumbent bike that sells new for $4,500 for like $200 it was in brand new shape, it was heavy to move but worked out good for me

Right before the Pandemic hit I got a Professional Grade Precor Elipitical for like $700, it was used but runs $7K new, it was even harder to move.

Have you gotten any great deals off of there lately? It is flooded with re-sellers that basically make or supplement their income off of it, you have to get real lucky to find a heck of a deal on there now.

I got the last recumbent bike in August 2023

I am in the point of my life I am trying to clean out my house and get rid of alot of stuff I don't use, I don't want my wife to be stuck with alot of stuff to deal with when I kick.

I have been giving alot of stuff away like end tables, Foosball tables etc to friends so the house has a more open look.

I have been selling quit a bit on FB, but I price it to sell and not trying to make a living off FB.

No, you have to push that button vs giving an actual response.

Yes, you have to hit "Send", but it is the auto-populated default response generated by FB. At any rate, it clearly does not mean "100% scam".
