Loading some 308. Have loaded 1000s. First time for this. Seems like about 20% of the batch i processed the bullet will drop right in the case. Obviously I have done something wrong. Standard Hornady 308 FL size die. Didnt seem like anything wrong when I sized. What in the world did I do ? Have never experienced this one.

I had this same thing happen, with a 308 also. It was once fired from either Magtech or some other cheap brand, and the brass was so hard it was just springing back after sizing. Annealing took care of the problem.

You have a bullet problem sir, as in wrong size. If you haven’t changed the die that is. That’s a lot of spring back but I guess it could happen.

You need to anneal the brass. Then resize.

Maybe you're like me, forgot which batch had been resized and loaded bullets into unsized brass? OR sized for cast and trying to load jacketed? My LC stuff is always correct after sizing, springback isn't enough to cause a problem.

I had erratic results when I did not adequately lube inside the case necks. Also I have 2 different 308 die sets and the expanders are not exactly the same. Very slight difference, but enough to notice when seating bullets.

Clean, anneal, size, trim.

You'll get better results.
