My brother and nephew decided it was time to create food plots. [Linked Image]

Lotta pines for Llano County.

Seriously though, looks like you're setting up for success if it rains

This food plot is in central WI. I was most impressed with the equipment (and the fact that they took two days to start and finish the job)

Looks great. Big deer up there will need a lot of food. Guess rain won't be an issue in WI

Is that sod equipment they used?

Something that big would take me a few hours with my no-till pulled behind a kawasaki mule, less if a bigger no till was used with a tractor. Of course I would have had to spray that grass first., but spray to kill the grass then no till into it, would make a great food plot.

Less work with a tractor. Curious why they didn't just rent a tractor and till it or disc it.

The first pass was with Toro Dingoes with a soil preparer. I will work up to 5" of the soil on the first pass.

They mowed the field first, the field being in native grass. That field hasn't been ploughed in 10 years, at least.

From the pictures they sent me, one pass with the Toro Dingo w/soil preparer, one pass with seed and another pass with a landscaping tractor pulling a roller. They did 3 fields, 300' x 160' each

Someone will correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t 300x160 about an acre? That looks way bigger than that.

43,560 sq. ft in an acre. Those dimensions are 48,000 sq ft.

Picture perspective can distort the actual distance, and I think we are seeing that for sure.

So a little more than 3 acres....on three plots. They should be in for some good action on those.

A good visual for most guys is a football field with out the end zones.

Looks like 3-4 acres to me, pretty country. Pics can be deceiving with depth perception. I retired playing football couple years ago, field is 120 yards long and 53.3 yards wide

Yep, 43,560 sq ft. Easier to visualize the playing surface of a football field.

We have done very well there in the past. The pines wind breaks have become overgrown and too tall to really hold deer. Good cover on the edges but very open, outside of the trunks, in the middle. The oak woods is pretty much the same story.

There are no real corn fields there and bait is illegal, so hopefully the food plots will cause some morning and late afternoon traffic. Rifle season is a 9 day event, so the hunting pressure is pretty high, especially on the opening weekend. The hunting pressure tends to keep the deer moving, but not always. The food plot is worth a try.
