No mechanic by a long shot. Do I need to take it to a shop or can I do it with basic tools? Been leaking for a couple years now. Very very small leak.

Disconnect the hoses, remove the cylinder, and take it to a hydraulic shop.
They will rebuild it correctly, in short order. You'll burn up too much time figuring out the rings you need and learning what you're doing as you go along.

THis^^^^^ I have re-sealed hundreds of them, it wont take them long. On those little farm tractor cylinders, they take about an hour maximum to do, and the parts usually run between $30.00 and $125.00. If they quote you a price that does not align with that, go somewhere else.

They may be able to just swap you one that's already been rebuilt, too.

Yes take to a shop that rebuilds them regularly.
I rebuilt all four on my Kubota and its a PITA.
There is ONE seal that is a bugger...all the rest are easy...but still not worth the effort.

My local NAPA store rebuilds them. I had one repaired about 6-7 years ago and it still leak free

I’ve rebuilt and had them rebuilt. Doesn’t take too long but it is a pain getting one or two of them on/in. Soaking them in warm hydraulic fluid helps. Think I paid an hours worth of labor to have them rebuilt.

Think I paid an hours worth of labor to have them rebuilt. Right, it's the one internal Gland Nut seal....that is a bear. One other small O-ring also on most cylinders. All the rest just slip on over the piston and seals for the Gland. But that ONE seal can be quite challenging depending on the cylinder. Yeah, I did all four of mine....but wouldn't do it again.
