I’ve been expecting this reality check. Essentially, Congress and Biden have looted the economy (created debt) with all the build back and build back better BS. They have created money and debt that lowered the value of the dollar and acted like kids in a candy store. This stuff is Economics 101.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

I was in the investment business for over 40 years. First off nobody but nobody can consistently time the market perfectly. It is always a moving target that is impossible to totally time on a long term basis.
The other thing folks overlook is this - if you are more than five years out from retirement then stay in the market and ride it out - history shows that it will eventually rally back and provide good returns.
On the other hand if you are within five years of retirement and/or in retirement then you should have your exposure to the market scaled back. I am not saying stay out of the market but your exposure should less than it was while you were in the accumulation phase. The reason being that if you are fully in the market and close to or into retirement is that you most likely are drawing out some of your money for income. If the market tanks but you have to continue pulling money out it is a double whammy and will take way longer to recoup your losses. Advice like this helps keep me sane. Put 3 years worth in CDs. Leave the rest in the market

It’s what I have been saying on here for years now, you need to think what % of my portfolio I want in “risk free investment” (CDs, T-Bills, Money Market…) vs “The Market” (risky market portfolio). That portfolio percentage split is personal preference, based on how much risk you want to take. The Risk Free portion of your portfolio you need to try and maximize, get the best rates you can. The Market Portfolio portion of your portfolio you just want to be diversified. It’s really that simple.

WW3 scares me. 100% agree, and that's not how I look at it. My point about a week from now was related to all the doom and gloom about a "crash". People bought today thinking it was oversold yesterday. We will understand a little better on extremely short term trajectory this time next week. My message hasn't changed from the other thread. There is a lot of doom and gloom but the market isn't going to crash. We need a correction and then sideline cash can come back in to reach new highs

Sold all my Bitcoin when it previously hit $65K and put a buy order in if it were to hit $58K. I was actually surprised I got an email saying my buy had been processed. Couldn't believe it had tanked so much last time I looked it was around $68K. Granted it was only a $1200 buy I now own 0.02028973% of one coin, but so far its been the only crypto sell high buy "lower" that I've pulled off. I always seem to screw myself and sell way too low and then FOMO and buy too high. I feel accomplished.

I always seem to screw myself and sell way too low and then FOMO and buy too high. I feel accomplished. Some of you may have heard that Trump was a speaker at Bitcoin2024 last week. When a reporter asked him about how he would address the out-of-control US debt, he said, “maybe we’ll write a little crypto check to pay off the $35 trillion debt…” As a crypto guy, I thought good soundbite, but also thought it was a truly insane and frightening proposition for dealing with the debt. Here’s why: the global market cap for Bitcoin is currently only ~$1 trillion. To put his statement into perspective, let’s do some math. If the 210,000 Bitcoins owned by the US were worth $35 trillion, your $1,200 investment would skyrocket to a staggering $3.38 million. This means each of the 210,000 US Bitcoins would need to be valued at an astronomical $166,666,666.67 ($166.6 million) each. All those 666s…Hum… now it sort of makes sense…
