The wife had a major crick in her neck (different from her pain in the a__, which is me). Put heat and ice on it, but not much really helped her. I looked on the internet and found that filling a sock, the length of which is your decision, with rice and then microwaving it good and hot was way better for putting heat on her neck. A day or two later, my right hand was hurting pretty bad (arthritis I guess), so I heated up the sock and wrapped my hand in it. Yep, works pretty good. Reusable too.

This aging can be painful.

Do the same here.

For cold we freeze water in a Styrofoam cup and peel away the cup as needed to expose the ice. Doesn't freeze your hands that way.

Pass the gravy.

Ice Massage Cups

I use these in my practice...easier and reuseable.

The rice in a sock is good...just microwave it for 30 seconds to 45 seconds at a time and turn it over each time you're adding more time until you get the desired temperature. Over microwaving it will burn the rice and give you one heck of an odor.

All Temp Hot/Cold Pack

These are able to be frozen and or microwaved and reused about 100 times in the microwave. The key here is to fold it under so that the edges where the plastic is sealed are under the main body of the pack...kinda make it like a muffin top. You don't want those edges getting too hot. And you put it in a pillowcase whether it's hot or cold to protect your skin. Use for 20 to 30 minutes at a time.

I have used a commercial grade one with rope handles on both ends for many many years now. Best thing since sliced bread!

Make sure you use a clean sock.
