In Huntsville today at 2 pm they are having an event marking the 50 year anniversary of an attempted escape and subsequent 11 day seige with two female hostages being killed by the inmates. My better half is there with 25 family members. Her aunt was a teacher in the prison and the story goes that the head bad guy cared enough about her to wait for her to leave the library before the mayhem started. Either that or she was lucky. Interesting story. Smuggled guns in cans of ham. Ammo in cans of peaches. Their plan involved fire hoses and ended in gunfire.

220 people were at the anniversary event yesterday in Huntsville. The guy from True Crime podcast was there. My gal likes those kinda shows so she enjoyed visiting with him. He helped her load a bunch of them since she’s not tech savvy. He’s doing a show about the seige and going to interview my gals aunt that was there and barely escaped being a hostage.

If not mistaking, a class mate of mine worked thar, as a women's security guard. Whin first got ta  swong by & visited with her back in 83.

I worked there in college. Thought about that incident everytime that gate closed behind me.
At the time of the siege all prison employees had to sign off that they knew if anything like this happened that they would not negotiate for their release. When you worked there was it the same? Is that pretty much normal in all prisons?
