Guys,
What the heck have I done wrong? I just mounted my NF ATACR to my new rifle using a 30 moa base/rings. When I fired my first round it missed the paper. So I aim at the bottom of my target for the second shot and hit center but right at the top of the target. This target is 38”s long. When I tried to adjust there simply wasn’t any adjustment left. I’ve researched everything I know of and verified that I mounted the scope onto the base and rifle the right way. So what am I missing. It’s been quite a few years since the last time I mounted a scope using a 20 MOA base but I do not ever recall have this issue in the past.

I assume you are hitting your zero stop and just need to adjust it down a bit more.

If you need impact to come down, but you don't have it available, Scot is probably on the correct answer. Your elevation turret hit your zero stop. Take the turret off, loosen the Zero Stop four screws and rotate it to give yourself some more impact down travel.

One more thing about NF scopes. The two screws that hold the elevation turret on, have o-rings after the threads and before the screw head. When you are reinstalling the elevation turret, remove one of those screws completely before putting the turret back on the scope. If you don't, air will be trapped in the turret and it will try and bounce back off the scope. Don't lose that screw, it s very small. After the turret is back on the scope, reinstall that one screw you removed, and proceed as normal.

Yep, that’s the whole story. Zero stop.
On a side note I’ve decided I don’t like zero stops and non translating turrets but that’s definitely the way the industry went. I guess if I was in a discipline that required speed it might be different but then I would just use the reticle.

I guess if I was in a discipline that required speed it might be different but then I would just use the reticle. Go back in time over 10 years ago, we had 5.0 Mils per Rev and no zero stop. Once you start shooting over 700 yards, you are past 5.0 Mils. We were shooting a little club match. Shooters also had to be R.O.s on spotters. We just gone finished shooting a stage over 800 yards. The next stage was 300 yards. I was spotting Dave, I was 100% confident he was about to clean this stage. He torched off the first round and I saw nothing. No impact, no splash. I turned my head toward Dave, and screamed "Dave, you are a rev up!" Next thing I heard was "Chit!" His turret read 1.0 Mil, but he was actually at 6.0 Mils. I set my zero stops to still allow me about .5 to .8 Mil of down travel. In the event I'm checking zero and I need to move POI down any, I do not have to address the zero stop, just the turret.

That’s why I like the translating turret like in the SS 5-20. They go up and down like a micrometer and you can clearly see what rev your on. Hell I need to get over it. Times are changing.

Funny, about the only complaint about the SS 5-20X is lack of a zero stop.
All turreted scopes have a rev indicator...
