Is Walmart, TSC or O'Reilley's DEF as good as the Blue stuff? Any issues?

Many will scoff at it, but Walmarts Supertech line of oils is more than serviceable as well. They are API certified and myself and many more have used them with oil analysis. My commuter has 191,000 miles and counting on supertech synthetic runs like a top and doesn’t use a drop.

Just bought a jug of Walmart DEF yesterday for $8.88. That's about half the cost of the Blue DEF.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

DEF has a shelf life.
Get it at the pump, so you have a better chance of it being fresh.
The bestest plan is to delete that B.S. off your truck.

if DEF is DEF, where is the cheapest place to buy it. This 3.0l Tahoe is the first requiring DEF and is new for me after owning about 16 different diesel vehicles over the past 40ish years.

The bestest plan is to delete that B.S. off your truck. True enough about the delete, then keep your fingers crossed you don't get caught. If I knew of a trustworthy place to get it done I may consider it myself.

also agree with deleting, but on a new vehicle, best to at least get past warranty. My truck was scheduled and deleted at 100,000 +/- miles when the warranty expired.

I have always bought Motorcraft def, the one the one time I bought Blue. Def was traveling in Oklahoma the following day my def sensor went out. Maybe a coincidence but al will always run Ford def, 50 bucks for 5 gallons though.

I’d venture to guess we probably burn more DEF than just about anyone on here and we’ve ran it all from the Blu Def to the cheapest stuff you can find and it all runs the same. We’re burning close to a pallet a week of Walmarts aka “Cheapest” brand and they deliver for free so it’s a win win situation. Just don’t store it in direct sunlight and you’ll be good for a while. I can with 100% certainty say Walmarts is good stuff and we’ve had zero issues with it.

All of our personal trucks are deleted but the company trucks get swapped before the warranty runs out. Most of our def is burned in equipment and deleting that stuff is all but impossible due to the computer issues you run into, they don’t make programmers like they do for trucks otherwise they’d all go on a diet plan tomorrow.

These days it is all good enough for the most part. When it was first being introduced, there were those cheap ones using water that was not properly conditioned, it was no good. I have not heard of any packaged products being like that since 2015. I buy it in bulk, it comes in a tank on a truck and is pumped into our tanks, we use around 11,000 gallons a month of it. The only engines that currently give us problems with the bulk product is the Liebherr crane engines, they must have a different value on the quality sensor that will derate them. I get a pallet of our lubricant suppliers house brand def for those. The government is the biggest scammer on this stuff, second are the packagers, the bulk we get for $1.40/gal.

For me sometimes peace of mind costs, I did try the other brand and it did not end well again maybe coincidence. I am just going on what my experience has been. Also I have the Ford house do everything on my trucks. Fuel filters, oil changes….EVERYTHING. Again peace of mind IF something goes wrong.

No more than you burn use what gives you peace of mind but I think most DEF sensors are built on Friday afternoons at 4:45 so I highly doubt it was the EPA Pi$$ that caused your problem. You need to air that beech out from time to time and stop mall crawling it so much

When it first came out, it was VERY sketchy. They've got it down now. Try to stay with a jug that was made in the last six months or less.

I saw on a different site someone saying not to use it if you crack the seal and then store it. Why is this?

Same reason not to buy if it's much older than six months. It goes bad. It loses strength over time and if left exposed, crystalizes.
