Making burglar bars for man cave windows. This one is for the bathroom frames are made for the other windows.
I'm sure liking MIG welding.

Looks good đź‘Ť Are those bolted to the steel structure or the wood frame?

Sure is easier to MIG that stick the stuff most of us part time welders do. Nice theft protection by the way.

Bolted to the wood frame via a 1/4" hole in the frame. The windows are framed out with 2x4's so that is where the lag bolts screw into. I painted the bolt heads so it's hard to see them.

Yes because it looks cleaner from outside and the metal siding is R panel and does not lay flat.

Remember, rebar has a bit more carbon in it than mild steel does. When welding it, it's not a bad idea to pre-heat with a torch. Get the rebar up to a dull glow. Nod your hood down and weld.

Thanks,

Another suggestion is that mig really likes shiny clean prepared material, will bond better.

I don’t think you’ll have to worry about anyone getting out of there!

I have a way for people to exit incase of fire but for now I'll keep this to myself.
