It’s Crepe Myrtle Bark Scale, lots of varying opinions on how to get rid of it but we use Neem Oil in the cooler months and a bifenthrin mixed with a little Neem Oil in the summer months but like I said, tons of varying chemicals will dispatch them so google it and see what you can find locally

If left unchecked though it will eventually wipe the tree out and they can spread to surrounding ornamental trees,

I do a soil drench of Imidacloprid around the base. Made a world of difference in the quality of my Crepes. No scale: aphids or leaf hoppers. I can get about 2yrs from one treatment.

mine had it too.

It’s an insect, not a fungus. Root and spot treat with syngenta optigard flex. Best I’ve used and it doesn’t take much.
