So if someone only hunts one to three times every season does not fit the definition of "currently hunt". What is the magic number? How many trips or how many days of hunting makes one a hunter? Or fisher, or golfer, or a kayaker? Does 10 one day trips a year make one more of a hunter than someone who only makes one 10 day trip? If one makes one long hunting trip a year every year are they less of a hunter than someone who makes several trips in one year, but due to work, family, health, etc. has to skip a year or years. Would they only be considered a hunter during the years they hunted or are they not true hunters? Some people only Dove hunt one or three times a year as more of a social or company outing, but do shoot and eat birds while there. Are they not hunters because the main reason they go is mostly social? Some persons have all their own gear, do their own research and scouting, processes their own game, never uses a guide, but can only make one trip per year due to family commitments or company vacation time. Yet there are also some who can only use a guide, have every aspect of the hunt outfitted, only goes on fully outfitted hunts several times a season, but knows nothing about the game they are hunting beyond pulling the trigger. Is the DIY person then not a true hunter because they only hunt opening week every year? Or is the outfitted person who goes on guided hunts often, the only true hunter in this example. IMHO there is no magic number. They all fit the definition of "a person who hunts game or other wild animals for food or in sport". Couldn’t of said it better myself.

I don't think a poll would answer the real question, which was TXtrophy's claim that 1/2 of those on this forum don't hunt. Who would admit to that, other than older hunters that have hung it up due to age and or health issues? I think he's referring to those that hunt like some that "go" to the gym but don't work out. I used to hunt with a group, 1/2 of the guys never left camp. But ask them, they went "hunting". Thank you, someone gets it.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Yessir. Lots.
If someone has a history of hunting but can't at all or nearly as much as he wants because of current health or economic/family issues, I'd still call that person a hunter. What matters to me is that they are interested in these topics, supportive of hunting, and will generally be on our side of the fence. No utility in trying to slice up the group of hunters based on how much they've gotten out recently.
