Need to affix 3 1/4-inch colonial base molding to the edge of the fireplace hearth. Anyone have a favorite to suggest? Thought I would then caulk the gaps along the top edge with plain old DAP Alex.

I would use Liquid Nails, it has stuck to anything I have tried it on.

^...just make sure your trim is straight and not wavy or you will have to put weights in front to allow the LN to cure.

Thanks fellas. Liquid Nails was my first impulse, but thought there just might be a slightly better adhesive out there. I had used Loctite PL3X to laminate two 2X12 LVL beams to make a 4X12, but that was wood to wood.

I've had good results with LOCTITE Power Grab. Glued the supports for the kitchen island to the concrete floor with it.

I went with the standard Liquid Nails, preferring to have to brace the molding in place for several hours rather than chance misaligning the instant grab stuff. It came out nice -- as long as you are looking at it from at least 10 feet away.

I have an issue where a potion of a brick broke off. I need to attach that portion back where it was. Is Liquid Nails or Loctite Power Grab the correct product for reattached brick to brick?

edit: working on the assumption that Loctite Power Grab would do the job, I ran to get some. I cleaned the surfaces, applied the adhesive, and positioned the broken piece. I had to press quite hard because I apparently applied too much. Fortunately I was wearing disposable gloves and was able to wipe away the excess adhesive. Put some duct tape on to help hold in place while curing, but it did not appear to be necessary. Looks promising so far.

Groot, I was told Gorilla Glue was a good adhesive for brick on brick and used it for one repair. Seems to be holding fine.

A good caulk job can turn just about anyone into a great carpenter.
