Are backpack pistols or backpack rifles legal to carry around in Texas? Can you walk into a mall or Walmart with a backpack rifle or pistol?

Yes you can walk around in Texas with a long rifle or shotgun in a mall or Walmart. You will draw attention and the police and if the property own ask you to leave you must do so or you are trespassing. As far as a backpack pistol I have no idea what this is. If it is strapped to the outside of the backpack it will fall under the open carry law if it is inside and concealed it is still legal unless posted.

You can also walk around your neighborhood with a long gun and it is legal. Once again you are going to draw the attention of the police. My opinion is that even though it’s legal it’s not very wise and there isn’t a need to do such!

My understanding is that it is legal. Pistol in a backpack would be treated the same as a concealed weapon. No different than a lady carrying a pistol in her purse. Rifle in a backpack, I don't know of any law against it. If there's no law that says you can't, then you can as far as I'm concerned.

I assume stinkbelly is talking about this kind of pistol...

I had a friend that used to (maybe still does) carry a similar setup.

Concealed is concealed! Are you going to advertise? What about a rifle? You want to carry a concealed rifle?

No different than a woman carrying a Sig P365 in her purse. Just make sure you keep it under control. You don't want to leave the backpack where it might get stolen. As for the concealed rifle, if there's no law saying you can't do it, then you must be able to do it.

Yes. That was the original question.

yes you can carry in a backpack.

constitutional carry means you can carry how you want when you want with some exceptions for certain bldgs/areas.
