Haven’t been in a few years. Looking around New Braunsfels but have no idea. House with private access preferred by me, but wife wants a condo with more downtown access.
Where to?

I know, it really makes y’all mad when I do that. I pronounce the s at the end of Illinois as well. Really makes my wife’s family mad since they’re from there. I tell em that’s what’s wrong with em.
No really I just misspelled it.

If you like river floating, nice vacation houses, decent fishing and small crowds then you should go to Blue Ridge, Georgia. If you like crowds, no fishing, non kid friendly, drunks around you then New Braunfels wont disappoint.

Not much water flowing in New Braunfels, according to the river report I heard on the radio today. You could call Rockin R and get a report, they are a tube/raft outfitter on the river. https://rockinr.com/

Rockin R is where I always put in when I go there, Get a innertube with an ice chest and take some extra rope or bungies to secure the top of your innertube with an icechest, I have seen more than one turn upside down and loose all contents.

What is flow rate for the Gaudalupe?
I seem to remember like 600 cfs was a good flow rate.
Is there a flow rate for the Rockin R area? Don't see it on their website.

Canyon dam discharge into Guadalupe is 73 cfs. Better take sunscreen. Better tubing in town on the Comal in town.

Comal is great for just floating around, not as fast as the Guadelupe. The TPW will be close by stopping the drunk Aholes ruining your family trip.

How are people drinking now? Seems like anything you bring has to be in a yeti style drink mug Can't even bring soda or beer cans, or even drinks in plastic bottles, pretty silly ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2024/06/full-250-423658-river.jpg)

beer goes flat in my Camelback Banning Glass Bottle makes sense to me But cans and plastic bottles being outlawed is a very stupid rule.

I worked security at whitewater sports back when it was a campground (late 70s to 81) and we would go sunday afternoons late and do salvage. no telling how many cases of beer and sodas we got, sunglasses, a few wallets/plastic bags with cash etc. wallets we returned, no id we kept it. they rented Styrofoam inner tube coolers, when they flipped the top came off and contents went in the river. the chute was a favorite if the water was over 500 cfs, a lot of wrecks happened there. the people that float the river constantly caused problems and I doubt it is much better now, the trash was astounding after a big 3 day like the 4th.

The Comal would be a better choice with the temps we've been seeing around here. Do the Tube Shute and float.
There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

Just got back from the San Marcos River yesterday, since it rained it was flowing pretty good.
As far as cans on the river the law and can ban o my applies inside city limits. San Marcos outside city limits where a lot of people float you can carry coolers with beer and plastic bottles. Same applies on the Guadelupe River, north and south of town you can have them just not inside city limits.
If floating inside city limits, large yeti cups and thermos full of mixed drinks work great, you have to be creative.
Last year on the Guadelupe from the Rockin R we actually saw a group with a full keg of beer floating which is allowed.

We have to organize trash clean ups due to the city people who think the whole world is their trash can.

People have been floating these rivers for many decades and now of all of sudden they want to ban plastic bottle and jello shots. It's pretty obvious it a rather stupid law to try to implement on a small area of the river But you appear to be a person who likes for the government to tell you what to do and not do How many covid booster shots did you get? A dozen?

Nope, I always always in charge of the Inner Tube with all the drinks, I would take extra ropes and extra string so if we hit rough water it wouldn't turn over and loose all the drinks and food. I don't need the government to tell me what to do, You on the other hand seem like you are like to have stupid rules. How many Covid boosters shot you got?

On the guadalupe there is usually a couple of divers around the chutes and rapids whom will get your stuff if you loose it, at least on the weekends in the summer time they seem to be there.

I remember guys having cases of beer getting ready to float, People passing jello shots out, it's pretty much a party leaving out of Rockin R and floating down the river. I would like to bring a 12 packs of cokes and some snacks to float, but the Nazis have decided I can't drink a cold coca cola in either a bottle or can while I float down the river.
