Wife brought home a old Singer Sewing machine base and wanted a side table built using some old wood. Found a guy that had some water oak slabs and brought them home. Cut a slab down, did some machining and finished with some lacquer. I think it turned out well and the wife is happy! [Linked Image]

I love it when some beautiful wood comes together with some excellent work. That looks great.

Beautiful! My great uncle made a top for my grandmother’s old singer stand. I now have it. Yours turned out fantastic!

Thanks for the positive comments. I had never worked with such large slabs before. They are over 2 inches thick. Turned out that it wasn't as hard as I thought to break them down into manageable pieces to run through the planer and jointer. have a few more left so need to come up with another project.

I built this dining table from old oak rig boards used to separate rows of drill pipe and casing. Was a lot of work but functional result.

I plan on using some of the same wood in our campervan build when I start that little project.

Here’s the one my great uncle made for my grandmother. It has a piece of glass that drops it. It’s in our entry hall (aka granddaughters playroom). After seeing yours I’m seriously conflicted about changing the top on mine to something more like yours….. bang

Damn yours looks good…..You’re killing me Smalls! 😡😡😡😡😡
