Thank God your buddy was available at that moment. It would have been a tragic accident that your two girls would have witnessed.

Man, that was a close call for sure. On my truck, if u open the door and your foot isn't on the park it automatically pits the parking break on.

Stories like this can help make others more aware. I cant remember having a close call but for some reason I have started to almost always look at the tires when I get out to see it they are moving before I go far.

You got really lucky. About a month ago a lady died when her truck ran over her at her house.

Scary Stuff. I know a guy that got run over by his own truck and crushed his pelvis. And another that got killed by his tractor while opening a gate. Getting in a hurry can be bad or fatal.

Pulled up this morning to a downhill gate, F150 + a 20' gooseneck. Not only did I put it in park, I also set the brake, because I thought of this story. Stay safe out there, gents. Scary stuff. I parked an old ranch pickup (standard transmission) facing uphill. Thought I had it in gear and was lazy and didn't set parking break. Opened door and put one foot out and it started rolling backwards downhill fast and dragging me. Grace of God I was able to pull myself back into the truck and get it stopped. I could've / should've been crushed and am not sure where the burst or agility / strength came from that allowed me to drag myself out from under that truck back into the cab. From now on ... parking brake.
