Wonders! Our 7/10ths likely doubled what we had at Rio Frio since the end of January.

Absolutely amazing conditions down here in NE Lasalle county. Drift on the roads, tanks brim fulll, cows fat as all get out eating with grass tickling their bellies and all the while, the protein is getting hammered. Tall grass’s and plenty of nutrition will encourage fawn recruitment.

Gonna be hard to defend if the hunting isn’t good. If the antlers are not there, it will be on me.

Edit - quail should also benefit.

I heard quail around the house this morning. I'm a happy camper. I have no illusions of ever hunting them here, but I sure like hearing and seeing them. up

I have a house that has been done for nearly 5 months and I can't get a final inspection until I have the driveway poured. Haven't been able to pour the driveway because is hasn't dried out enough long enough for the guys to do it. This weather is driving me nuts.

I hope the whole state gets a good soaking.

I hope the parts of the state that have not received rain get a good soaking. Some of us don't want any more right now.

I finally broke over 7” for ‘24. Horribly dry here - again. Summer is gonna be brutal. Medina lake up the road is at 2.5% capacity and 92.6 ft low. Lower hill country rivers are a sad sight with almost no spring flow. Lots and lots of dry wells.
I’ll pray for dry for y’all - y’all pray for rain this way please!!!

Did you really mean that Medina Lake is at 2.5%? Surely you meant 25%….I hope.

2.5% is a believable number for Medina Lake.

Yah - it fluctuates heavily and now much of the water is owned/mismanaged by the San Antonio Water System so it spends more time low than not.
The Medina River is showing a flow rate of 3cfs at Bandera. Bout like dumping out a 5 gallon bucket.
The Sabinal River is the same.
The Frio River at Concan is at 6cfs - gets a little higher if enough people are flushing the toilets at Garner Park.
The lakes I like to fish are Amistad, Choke Canyon, and Falcon.
Amistad is at 26.7%
Choke Canyon is at 22.3%
And Falcon is at 9.7%…. Was down at Falcon last weekend. No actual boat ramps reach the water now. Had to put in off the bank. But it works.

Medina has certainly seen really highs and really lows. I have heard complaining for 40 years about the management of the lake from fisherman and watersports folks, long before the SAWS issues. But it is unlikely that the lake was made for such purposes.
I read somewhere that SAWS does not use any water from Medina lake, it just hasn't rained in the runoff area.
This has been the subject of debate for years.

From June 1st, "Absolutely amazing conditions down here in NE Lasalle county. These words still holding true. Grasses tall & thick and unbelievably green for the middle of July with more rain forecast soon.

No real gully washers, but the roads already need some attending to.
