We set up a trap the other weekend and will be going out to bait it up, We want to attract the hogs and not the coons, we do have PigOut but also have corn and fish scraps, what would you recommend in the trap to try and minimize the coons. Thanks.

I'd use diesel, jello and/or soured corn, but I'd definately stay away from the fish scraps if you want the coons to stay out. The fish scraps will attract them!
Mmmm Hmmm

just take and soak your corn in diesel and water nothing but a hog will eat it

How much diesel would you use for a 40lb bag of corn? Do you have to soak it or does just spaying some on after the corn has been spread work?

the way we do it, is put it in a bucket, and then just kind of put it on top, and let it run down, we probably use 3cups worth of diesel, so not to much. we dont soak, just kind of spray. but i guess u could spray it on the ground if u want to.....

just take and soak your corn in diesel and water nothing but a hog will eat it Thats what I used to think until I put some diesel soaked corn out and had a couple hundred trail cam pics of deer and turkey's chowing down on it. I didnt have it in a trap I scattered it out in the grass out in front of a ladder stand so we could film some shows without getting a feeder in the shot. The deer ate all the corn on multiple occassions before the hogs could ever get there.

If you "pour" diesel on the corn, you waste most of it. Just sprinkle it all around - maybe 12 to 16 ounces for 50 pounds. If you open the bag, then add diesel to the bag, you don't use much. Just a little goes along way. Let it set for a few minutes, then set it out.

I've heard that putting grape Kool-Aid powder on the diesel soaked corn will also attract the hogs. I have never tried it, but Hog Wild kinda smells like it.

They like diesel & kool-aid. I think cherry works the best but who really knows.

i agree with adding a hint of diesel- no ticks or coons. also, sow-in-heat scents are sometimes all you can use to get wily boars to waltz in.

I set my hog trap the other day with diesel soaked corn and had a fawn in the trap and it ate all the corn. I have caught 4 deer in my hog traps and all had diesel soaked corn.

Don't be saying that. You could get one heck of a fine for catching deer.... Even if you let them go.

Where can a guy in the austin area buy sow-in-heat scent. I have been looking for at least a year and can't find it.

Okay, does anyone eat hogs that have been eating diesel corn? I sure as hell wouldn't. Regular corn has working fine for me.
